FOX HUNT!

This past Saturday morning, we had our 'Fox Hunt'. My day started when I got to the E.O.C. at about 6:20 am. I put two pots of coffee on (waiting for the crowd to show). I then settled down getting some paperwork ready for everyone to 'sign in'. I had already checked the ice box finding out that David (KF5DQD) had been to the store Friday and purchased all idems for our breakfast (Susan and Gabbey were going to do another batch of their beautiful pancakes). It was almost 7:00 am. David (KF5DQD) came in and we started getting things out, cutting open packages of bacon while trying to decide on just how many eggs we should bust open for scrambling. Kenny (KR9C) entered the building and decisions were then made on the amount of eggs. Thanks Kenny. At 7:20 we started the bacon (in two different skillets). When the first batch of bacon was finished, the batch of eggs went into that skillet. During this time Dave (N0TRQ) came in with a cobbler and other things Susan and Gabbey had already prepared (they weren't finished with the pancakes yet but they would be there shortly). Dave had placed the FOX at its position before coming to the E.O.C. building. All that needed to be done at that point was to 'activate' the fox. I will expound on the FOX Dave built. Its very elaborate and well put together. Its in a water proof cast and has a PL-259 connector sticking out on one edge (for an external antenna). It also has an ID'er which(as you know) will identify (in this case) twice a minute. It says 'I'm the Fox come find me' and then throws out our Club Call Sign. The whole thing is very cure and very well done. A few other people (Don K5ZRQ and Jimmy KE5RRA) showed up. After eating, it was time to start. I did not attend. David and I stayed and cleaned the kitchen and eating area up and got the trash ready to haul off. I think Gabbey found the Fox first, followed by the others later. For those of you who did not attend, you missed a good time. All I can say is .. You should have been there. Normally I close by saying .. I'll see you at our club meeting on the 9th of September. I won't do it this time because KE5RRA and I will be leaving here THAT Thursday morning and heading to Arkansas for the weekend HamFest at Mena. Hold down the fort and hopefully (between the both of us) we can bring back some more 1st and 2nd place prizes. 73's from .-- ..... -.-. --.- --.
