By now most of you have rested up from the HamFest this past Saturday. K5ZRQ might not be though. He was the winner of BOTH the 2 meter HT and FT-817 QRP rig. If KC5WIY will allow he to do so, he might even be able to read a few pages from the Instruction Book. I can't think of the Call sign for the fellow who won the FT-8900 rig. Nonetheless they WILL enjoy those radios.

I haven't fully recovered yet. My legs are still letting me know I was on my feet TOO much. You might not realize it, but a guy will stay pretty busy trying to get things going and keeping them going. All in all I did have a good time. I saw several people whom I've chatted with for years and never seen before Saturday. I'm also sure a lot of the wives are glad it's over. Dave's wife Susan and Gabbey stayed up until after midnight building pies Friday night while Dave went to bed. Ain't THAT a kick in the head? Thanks gals. You did a great job .. and it's highly appreciated.

Making money is the name of the game. Thursday night (the 10th), I'll let you know how we did. Maybe by then all the bills will be in .. and paid. I really didn't get a chance to talk with Luis (Houston Amateur) to see how he did. However I'm sure he'll be back next year. I thank him for coming. As most of you know, Jerry (Palmetto Antennas) had trouble with his NEW truck. It started running HOT about three miles from his house so he had to shut it down. He will be here next year though.

I want to also mention we added several NEW amateurs to the radio ranks. There was also a couple of up-grades too. I'm not sure who they all were, but Dave can give you a report on the testing.

In closing I want to thank all the people who helped to put the FEST together as well as thank everyone for the great job that was done on the 'clean up' afterwards.

With that being said .. I'll close for now .. and see you Thursday night at the meeting.

Here's the up-and-coming schedule for the FIRST week of June (June being our HamFest). On the 2nd I will be out of town for the evening. The 3rd is when we are going to have a pre-hamfest get-together just to be sure we have everything covered. The fourth of June we will be busy moving generators around (maybe moving them out side of the building). We will also have to get tables from Jimmy's church and bring them over to the E.O.C. building and get ALL the tables 'set up'. Friday night (or early Saturday morning) the vendors will be there wanting to put their 'ware' out on display. I don't know what time they will be getting there, but I did tell them that whatever time they wanted, I'd be there to open the building.

So .. now you see where and when you will be needed for help. Don't be bashful .. come on and give a hand. When all the FUN is over Saturday evening, we will have to clean up the building (pick up trash and stuff), get the generators BACK inside and return the table to where they came from. Once again .. you see where help will be needed. I'm counting on you. This is OUR CLUB. We need you.

Also the 440 machine is currently down and will be repaired soon.

The upcoming Hmafest was discussed concerning who would do what, and be bringing items for the fest.

Mr. Cecil advised the club members that someone was one the 147.280 machine using very vulgar languauge.  Whoever was on this machine appeared to be a trucker.  Subject was told by a club member that he was on a ham frequency by the language persisyted.  Cecil advised that there was a mechanism in place to take the machine off the air if there was a repeat occurance that this action would be taken.  The repeater trustee and repeater technical support have the ability to simply turn off the PA on the repeaters via remote and local control.
