Our hearts and prayers go out to Joseph Chance & his family!  Joe was re-admitted to the hospital yesterday (Monday, 7/12) with chest pain. My understanding is that he's in Willis Knighton Pierremont.  I haven't heard from Ashley today, so this is all the information I have right now.  Keep this entire family in your prayers!

July Minutes

Secretary's Report for July 8, 2010

The meeting was brought to order by President Dave-N0TRQ @ 7:02pm.
Prayer was led by Kenny - KR9C & Pledge to our flag led by Cecil - W5CQG.

Susan - N0TRS read the Secretary's report from the last meeting.
An amendment was made by Cecil - W5CQG regarding the gift of $75.00
from Palmetto Antennas.  A motion to accept the amended minutes was made
by Cecil - W5CQG, and seconded by Kenny - KR9C.

Cecil - W5CQG read the Treasurer's report. We currently have $2517.55 or
$2508.55 depending on a $9.00 discrepancy that Cecil will rectify upon the
receipt of the next bank statement.
A motion was made by Kenny - KR9C to accept the Treasurer's report as read.
It was seconded by George - KF5FDN.

Old Business:

440 Machine was discussed.  It was determined that more parts are needed
to complete the repairs to the machine.  More parts will be ordered, and
currently, these parts are being obtained at no cost to the club.

ARRL - There are no changes at this time to the status of the clubs' application.
It is still pending at this time.

The search is still on for a PA System for Ham Fest's or other events.

Field Day Notes:
Our website has been updated with a few pictures from Field Day. The total count on
contacts will be provided by Dave - N0TRQ.  Our group operated 23.5 hours
out of the 24 hours of Field Day which was excellent!
Suggestions for next year:
Headphones are necessary.
Re-arrangne the antennas & seating layout

New Business:

It was suggested by Kenny - KR9C that we have a booth at the Fall Festival this year.
Jimmy - KE5RRA is confirming the date for the festival.
It was determined that this would be an excellent club function to get the word
out about Ham Radio!
Susan - N0TRS will be contacting the ARRL for any pre-printed brochures that
we may be able to use for distribution to the public.
Weather Service/Sky Warn information would be a good subject to present as well.
Discussion and designation of responsibilities will be discussed at the next
club meeting on August 12, 2010.

Susan - N0TRS will be sending out meeting & event reminders one day prior to all
events.  We have valid email addresses for almost all of our members. If you would like
to add or update your email, please contact Susan with the update.

It was suggested by Dave - N0TRQ to have QSL Cards for our club.  Dave - N0TRQ and
Susan - N0TRS will come up with a design to present at our next club meeting.
Cecil - W5CQG made a motion to go ahead with this plan.
It was seconded by Gabbey - KC9OBP.

Net Control:  A big thank you goes out to Jimmy - KE5RRA for doing such a fantastic
job calling the net.  It was suggested that other members also take part in calling
the net.

Fox Hunt:  The date for our next Fox Hunt will be Saturday, August 21st.  Susan - N0TRS
will be the Fox for this hunt.  A demonstration of how to make a simple, low cost
"Beam Antenna" will be done at our next meeting on Aug. 12th.

A motion to close the meeting was made by Kenny - KR9C, and seconded by Jimmy - KE5RRA.
Meeting Adjourned @ 7:46pm by Dave - N0TRQ

News From Cecil - W5CQG!

This past week we had out monthly club meeting. We discussed having another 'Fox Hunt'. That will be coming up soon (next month), so plan to attend. It's lots of fun. Hopefully we will also have a demonstration on just how easy it is to 'build' a simple 2 meter 'Beam Type' antenna to use for FOX HUNTING.
We still have plenty of club logo 'patches' (at $4.00 a piece). Susan has them. Just let her know how many you want and she will fix you.
Dave hasn't come up with a 'count' yet on our Field Day contacts. I taking up for he, I have to say he has been very busy with work projects as well as things at home. He did say, however, he will be coming up with a 'count' soon.
Remember .. we are open for suggestions for our next HamFest. We need your input. Don't hold back. If you have an idea, please tell us. We want ideas on food, door prizes and anything else you  might think about.
There are still a couple of things that haven't been corrected on out club roster but Susan is working on the changes that need to be made. If you know of something that isn't correct, let her know. You can also get a 'print out' of the roster from our WEB PAGE. Loke at it at WWW.K5MNY.COM. You can also view pictures from our HamFest as well as our Field Day.
That's all for now .. unless Dave or Susan wants to add something. I just happened to think of one more thing. If you would care to volunteer to call the Tuesday night net for a week or two, let Susan know.
As usual .. until next time .. 73's from W5CQG   Cecil
