Cecil - W5CQG referenced the Ham Fest held on June 12, 2010.  We had
a successful but low turnout.  Cecil also read a letter of apology from
Palmetto Antennas for not being able to attend the fest.  They gave a

Field Day & Our Club Picnic! PDF Print E-mail

Field Day is now over. We are waiting on N0TRQ to come up with the 'total' as far as our contacts went. I believe we did pretty good. However no matter how we come out in the ARRL standings, I completely enjoyed myself. I had a very good time.
There were several attending. Many of our club members were present as well as people from some of the other area clubs. I even broke out the Yaesu-450 rig (first time out of the cellophane) and not only myself, other HAMS, made several contacts with it. Don (K5ZRQ) brought his 'Ham Fest winner' Yaesu 817 (QRP) rig and made a bunch of contacts using that one. He also used the '450' to make a few. K5GRM, N0TRQ,WB5LYB, W5CNN, KE5UVT, N0TRS, KC9OBP, Jimmy (KE5RRA and Jackie), KF5DQD .. there were others there (at my age I'm not able to remember everybody, so please forgive me if you aren't mentioned) were all using rigs and making contacts all over the USA.
The food was prepared by N0TRS and KC9OBP (they brought lots of it). If you left hungry, it's your fault. Thanks girls. You are to be commended for all your hard work. It's going to be very difficult for me to have to wait until next Field Day for such a meal.
I will say this in closing. Next year I WILL have a set of head phones. Have you ever tried to listen to some one on the air for a signal report while the guy right next to you is 'working' another contact? Believe me, you need head phones. I don't know whatever happened to the ones I used to have.
Take care, and I'll see you on July the 8th (our next club meeting night). Again .. thanks to ALL for the nice Field Day weekend.
